NFL 2009 Team Predictions

AFC East 2009 Predictions

Here is my expert analysis ranking of how the teams will finish in the NFL east division in 2009:

#1 New England Patriots

Still the best team in the division

#2 New York Jets

Coming on strong thanks to a defense that is poised for very big things

#3 Miami Dolphins

No more than a 500 team this season, but also looking brighter down the road

#4 The Bills

Mediocre at best mostly due to no QB

AFC North 2009 Team Predictions

 #1 Cincinati Bengals

Poised to be the best team in a pretty solid division

#2 Pittsburgh Steelers

Still talented but could be on the downswing if they lose any key veteran starters on offense (like QB Big Ben) or D (like the best hair in the game Troy)

#3 Baltimore Ravens

Love their RB situation this year as I think Ray Rice is ready to explode on the NFL scene, but still not a likely playoof condending team in 2009

#4 The Cleveland Browns

Not good, but not among the worst three teams in the NFL this season either

AFC South 2009 NFL Team Predictions

 #1 The Colts

Not too crazy about them this year (may bet the under on wins in fact), but will still hang on for the division and the playoffs

#2 Houston Texans

Not a playoff team yet, but on the doorstep, may take the division next year if their young talent can progress again.

#3 Tennessee Titans

Dont expect much from them this year, too many question marks across the board

#4 Jacksonville Jaguars

I think the Jags need some pretty major overhauling on both sides of the ball before they threaten at the top of the division or even a 500 record any time soon (love MJD though!)

AFC West 2009 NFL Team Predictions

#1 San Diego Chargers

I worry too much about their D to call them a Superbowl contender (unlike so many of the big bad "experts" out there, but they cna have an off year and still certainly win this division

#2 The Denver Broncos

May be better than people expect with the new mighty mouse genious at the helm, but he may not get full buy in until he has his own stamp of all the players there (think "Belicheckian" type of players)

#3 and #4 The Raiders and the Chiefs

Put them in a bag (or if you are a fan put the bag over your head), as these teams combined will not equal 8 wins

NFC East NFL Team Predictions

 #1 The Dallas Cowboys

Could be a threat to make the Superbowl, except that their are two better teams in the NFC - but no better teams in the NFC East!

#2 Philly Eagles

I like the way they have some youth now on offense, but fear they are still too dependant on the old and likely hobbling McNabb and Westbrook - watch out for Desean Jackson though as he is my bust out fantasy sleeper pick this season!

#3 NY Giants

Not as bad as most third place divisional finishers in the league, but this is a tough division.

#4 Washington Redskins

Could be time for another shakeup here as Mr. Rich wont like not competing for a division title - yet again (I see a new coach coming before too long!)

NFC North NFL Team Predictions

 #1 Minnesota Vikings

Love their defense (especially upfront of course), and AP is still young, strong and very, very good!

#2 Green Bay Packers

A good team with some great young talent (Aaron Rogers will soon be considered a top tier NFL QB) and a really good coach.

#3 The Bears

Consider this a bit like my Giants pick for 3rd place, not a bad team, but a tough division. The difference here is that they are a lock for 3rd place because the Lions are behind them.

#4 Detroit Lions

Will be more competitive than last year, but a lock for last place in the division and still very likely one of the worst 4 teams in the NFL in W-L at the end of this season

NFC South 2009 NFL Team Predictions

 #1 New Orleans Saints

Watch out for the Saints this year. Their offense will once again be awesome, and why wouldn't their defense be better? This will be a fun team to watch and is my pre-season pick to make the Super Bowl for the NFC (I know every expert out there is picking Dallas, but I like The Saints AND the Vikings better)

#2 The Atlanta Falcons

An interesting team, but still just that, not too good and not too bad.

#3 Carolina Panthers

An interesting team, but still just that, not too good and not too bad. Worse than the Falcons though due to a much, much lamer situation at Quarterback

#4 Tampa Bay Bucaneers

Not a very interesting team. Not the worst but soo verry faaarrrr from being near the best

NFC West 2009 NFL Team Predictions

 #1 San Francisco 49ers

I may be a bit ahead of myself here, but this team has lots of talent, good coaching and is in a weak enough division that I think they take it!

#2 Arizona Cardinals

One Kurt Warner injury away from being near the bottom of the division

#3 Seattle Seahwks

A shame there is nothing here to get excited about. I always liked it when the Seahawks had a lot of talent and potential but then still manages to somehow be dissapointing. This team is just dissapointing from the get go.

#4 The Rams

A lock to be one of the worst 4 teams in the NFL this year.
